Tarps are a multipurpose material that can cover objects outdoors, be part of a canopy, or even be used to cover a truck bed for a flatbed or dump truck. But, these aren’t the only uses for tarps, however. On farms, for example, a common use for tarp on a farm is covering hay. Such heavy-duty silver hay tarps wrap around the edge of three or more bales of hay and provide just as much coverage as a barn, provided appropriate draining is available. Other popular uses include covering boats and seasonal vehicles like RVs and protecting a baseball field from the rain. In all instances, the tarp is held in place by tie downs or bungee cords.
One of the tarp materials in our selection is medium-duty polyethylene. The most common variety of this type of tarp is blue and is used for temporary protection. This can include use as a drop cloth or as coverage for vehicles outdoors. The next level up for poly tarps is heavy-duty. While medium-duty tarps have a count of eight by eight, the weave is 12 by 14 for heavy duty materials. The most common type of heavy-duty poly tarp available is silver, and this material, aside from covering boats and RVs individually, is often part of a canopy.
