Poly Sheeting

Although small in size, dust and dirt both pose significant hazards. Dust on a street side construction site, for example, can get on pedestrians and cloud car windows. Dirt, similarly, can take chemicals into a water supply during a rainstorm or erosion. When you want to protect a sidewalk, street, or roadway from dirt or dust, add poly sheeting to the area. As multipurpose polyethylene material, poly sheeting can line any perimeter, wall, or fence to contain small particles that would otherwise become a hazard.

Poly sheeting at any thickness is wrinkle and weather-resistant and water resistant. Unlike a tarp, however, poly sheeting is not designed for long-term use. Construction and agriculture sites generate dirt and dust, and as many of these are close to a sidewalk, street, or highway, an appropriate approach to protecting motorists and pedestrians must be taken. 10 mil poly sheeting can line a wall or fence facing the street; the weather and water-resistant surface holds up against the elements and contains these small particles.

As a versatile material, poly sheeting is appropriate, if not required, in several instances. Construction sites, for example, will generate dirt and dust, and should contain it. No matter the structure being created, poly sheeting can be attached to any walls or fencing surrounding the area. The polyethylene surface keeps these small particles inside, and prevents them from covering pedestrians and the sidewalk or turning into a hazard for motorists.

Although construction sites generate small particles, dirt itself poses its own set of complications. When erosion is a problem, dirt can slide down a bank or coastline, carrying chemical compounds to a water supply. Poly sheeting, in this case, keeps dirt from entering a river or other body of water. Lining the edge of a river bank or coastline, the polyethylene material supports the dirt, and prevents it from sliding into the water.

As a water-resistant material, poly sheeting is also designed to protect an object from rain and other water. From a leak in your home to storing equipment outdoors, drape a piece of poly sheeting over your investment to prevent water damage.
