Custom Tarps

Where might custom tarps be needed? While several sizes are available for medium and heavy-duty polyethylene tarps, the material may need to be cut with specific dimensions. A canopy structure is one case. An outdoor canopy, also called a portable garage or carport, has a galvanized steel frame and a polyethylene canopy. The frame is designed to last 15 to 20 years, but the canopy typically only lasts five. If the owner can’t find a replacement for the canopy, he or she needs to look for a custom heavy-duty polyethylene tarp to attach to the structure.

Aside from canopies, trucks often need tarps with specific dimensions to cover a load. Both dump and flatbed trucks have specific size loads and need tarps to cover them. With trucks, tarps shouldn’t be large enough that the material can’t be tightened but, at the same time, shouldn’t be tight enough that they tear. If sizes aren’t the exact length and width needed to cover the load fully, custom size tarps will need to be ordered.

Custom tarps may also be needed to protect hay. While hay tarps protect a crop from water damage, rot, and mildew, the farm needs to put the hay in bales and stack them before the tarps are applied. If sizes to cover the hay can’t be found, larger tarps – ones longer than wide – will need to be custom ordered to protect the hay
